Ida Caracciolo

Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS)

Ida Caracciolo is a Judge at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) and a Full Professor of International Law at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”. She has been Head or participant in several research projects on International Law and the Law of the Sea, Visiting Professor in different foreign universities, and Lecturer in numerous post-degree courses. She has served as Legal Expert for the Legal Affairs Service at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994-2020). She has been member of the Italian delegation for several bilateral negotiations and committees within international organisations. She has been Counsel of Italy in cases before different international jurisdictions and served as ad hoc judge in the European Court of Human Rights. She is also Professor of Advanced International Law at the University of Naples “Federico II”, Alternate Arbitrator of the OSCE Court of Arbitration and Conciliation, and member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration. She is author of numerous articles and books on international law.
